My First Blog!

SURPRISE!

We had a wonderful surprise this month . . .

We received word that one of the quilts our inventory was published in the June, 2009 edition of "Architectural Digest"~

This 1930s LOG CABIN (Variant) is one my favorite old quilts. Graphic, slightly edgy, and genuinely happy.

I love how dimensional the design is. The (unknown) Kentucky quilt maker did some wonderful and unusual things:

She organized her colors into telescoping squares, a slight variation of the traditional Log Cabin block. And by dividing the centers of each block with a half square triangle, she helps create and emphasize the strong diagonal movement.

Cheery sophistication!
